Given that Windows 11 24H2 has been out for a while and we\u2019ve had some good experiences with it so far, I decided to upgrade the image to 24H2. However, the update to 24H2 did not show up in Windows Update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The usual steps would be to mount the latest ISO file and install\/update from there or use the Windows 11 Installation Assistant. But since we&#8217;re using the special Windows 11 Multi-Session image directly from Azure, these options were not going to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The solution was quite simple, even though I am still surprised it worked. We just needed to specify the target Feature Update version in the local Group Policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So we open the Local Group Policy Editor (<code>gpedit.msc<\/code>), navigate to <code>Computer Configuration<\/code> \u2192 <code>Administrative Templates<\/code> \u2192 <code>Windows Components<\/code> \u2192 <code>Windows Update<\/code> \u2192 <code>Manage updates offered from Windows Update<\/code>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here, we open the Policy <code>Select the target Feature Update version<\/code>, enable it and enter the required Version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"686\" height=\"396\" src=\"https:\/\/digitalmaterial.ch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/image-13.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-331\" srcset=\"https:\/\/digitalmaterial.ch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/image-13.png 686w, https:\/\/digitalmaterial.ch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/image-13-300x173.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 686px) 100vw, 686px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Save and close the window, then search for new updates without restarting.
